Obituary for Connors

Karl F. Connors, 83, of Fairfield, IA died Tuesday, July 14, 1999 at his home. He was born August 13, 1915, in Malone, N.Y., to Michael and Anna Johnston Connors. He married Jean Maurer in 1947 in London, England; she preceded him in death in 1984. He was a cryptographic technician in the U.S. Army for 30 years, serving in W.W. II's European theater and later in Washington, N.Y.; Anchorage, Alaska; Paris; Saigon, Vietnam and White Sands, NM, before retiring in 1973. He moved to Fairfield, IA in 1992. He is survived by two sons, Larry Connors of Boone, N.C., and Andy Connors of Albuquerque; a daughter, Christine Connors of Boone, NC; and a sister, Pixie Blake. He was preceded in in death by a sister, Mary; and two brothers, Bernie and Walt. The body has been cremated and a memorial service is being planned for a later date. Burial is in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, next to his wife. Many people in Albuquerque knew him as a grower of loofah sponges, which he enjoyed giving away to anyone interested.
