Jose Benjamin Nolan, 75 years old of Vaughn, NM died Friday, December 24, 1999 at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Nolan was born July 11, 1924 at Ocate, NM. He married Elsie Corrine Sanchez in 1945 at Springer, NM. Mr. Nolan is survived by his wife, Elsie of Vaughn; one daughter, Bernice and Luis Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; three sons, Alex from the family home, Louis and Rita of Armarillo, TX, Richard and Faline of Amarillo, TX; five brothers, Alfonso and Rosie of Miami, NM, Fernando and Mabel of Raton, NM, George of CA, Mike and Eva of Wichita, KS, Phil of CA; four sisters, Julia and Lencho Sanchez of Cimarron, NM, Vera Montoya of Springer, NM, Helen Garrison of Springer, NM Rafelita and Benji Lopez of Espanola, NM; thirteen grandchildren, Rachel, Michael, Cynthia, James David, Jeremy, Jennifer, Andrea, Joseph, Jamel, Kristi, James, Chris, and Dalton. Eight great-grandchildren, Amanda, Crystal, Amanda Nicole, Jade, Samantha, Isiah, Jacob, and Vincent. Mr. Nolan served as a Military Policeman in the US Army, European Theater, WWII, from 1944-1946. He was the American Legion, Post 53 Commander, Retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1980, Owner and Operator of Nolan Upholstery, Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Council, Knights of Columbus, member of St. Joseph Society, Honorary Volunteer Fireman and Longtime resident of Vaughn, NM. Wake services will be conducted on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Mary's Church with Father Patrick Duffy officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM. All arrangements are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa, NM.
