Obituary for Perea

Clovis N. Perea, a longtime Belen resident, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 6, 1999. He was a retired Federal Employee from Kirtland Airforce Base with prior service with the Atomic Energy Commission. Clovis was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence; his parents, Desiderio and Maria; his brothers, Toribio, Porfirio, Florian; and his sister, Lupe Torres. Clovis is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Amelia; his daughter and son-in-law, Berlinda and Bill Lawson; three grandchildren, Sonia, Geoffrey, and Bradley Lawson; one great-grandchild, Ryan Alexander Lawson-Maeske. In addition, he is survived by a special niece, Lesli Vallejos and her husband, Michael and daughter, Lorena, as well as an endeared nephew, Marc Benavidez. Other survivors include his brother, Herman and his wife, Florencia; and his sisters, Isabel (Lita) Delesma and Beatrice Torres; sisters-in-law, Lena (Florian) Perea and Carmen (Porfirio) Perea; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clovis was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around handyman. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to various locales during his retirement years. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, and the Disabled American Veterans. Clovis will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 1999, 5:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, with the Rosary service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 10, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be Geoffrey and Brad Lawson, Marc Benavidez, Richard Perea, Lonnie Perea, and Richard Perea.
