Obituary for Goodall

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday November 05, 1999

Leon"Dupey" W. Goodall, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1993, died Sunday, October 31, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda G. Chandler and husband, Leon J. of Albuquerque; and several cousins. Affectionately known as Dupey all his life, Dupey was a strong family oriented man. He had the will and courage to work two full-time jobs to support his family and always made time to participate in family events. After 20 years of service to the City of New York, Dupey retired, but continued to work his second job until his retirement from that one. He never experienced an idle moment since he played semi-professional basketball in his younger years and bowled in his latter years. He traveled with his family and as a member of the Guardsmen, Inc., Brooklyn chapter, he participated in many of New York's grand social events. Many remember him as a great dancer and an expert"Electric Slide" aficionado. After being widowed for the third time, he moved to Albuquerque in December, 1993 to be closer to his loving daughter and son-in-law, but still remained physically and socially active until his untimely stroke in November, 1997. Dupey will be deeply missed by his family and friends-both the new ones her in Albuquerque and old ones in New York. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Saturday, one hour prior to services.
