Obituary for Dawkins

Edward Donald Dawkins, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, October 28, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geneva Dawkins; son, Edward D. Dawkins II and wife, Beth of Glendale, AZ; grandson, Philip Dawkins of Chicago, IL; brothers, M.D. Dawkins and wife, Ozell of San Antonio, TX and F.M. Hensley and wife, Mary Lou of Quincey, IL; sister, Katherine Hensley Meade of Ozark, AR; seven nephews; one niece; and one great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tish Dawkins. Mr. Dawkins was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, serving 1949-1969. He saw combat in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and was awarded many medals for his service. After military retirement, Mr. Dawkins served as a volunteer for the New Mexico Civil Air Patrol. He also retired from the Social Security Administration after 21 years. Mr. Dawkins had been an active member of Central United Methodist Church since 1971. This loving husband and father was an honorable gentleman of uncommon value. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield officiating. Ennichement will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
