Obituary for Landgraf

The Rev. Anthony P. Landgraf, 100, died on October 21, 1999, at Lovelace Hospital. He was born June 4, 1899 in Chicago, Illinois. He contracted TB as a young adult and came out to a sanitarium in Valmora, New Mexico for three years. He regained his health and returned to Illinois. He attended Northwestern University and Lake Forest College, Illinois, and graduated from McCormick Seminary in Chicago in 1932. He married Hilda Pfander on June 15, 1932. She died in 1992. He served Presbyterian churches in Chicago, Chariton, Iowa, and Freeport, Illinois. He was Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Freeport for 21 years. He and Hilda retired to Topeka, Kansas in June, 1964. He served as Interim Pastor to several Topeka area churches, including Central United Presbyterian Church, was Assistant to the Pastor of Central Congregation Church in 1973-74, and as Visitation Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1978 to 1982. He did Chaplaincy work in Topeka hospitals, served the Topeka Council of Churches, and as Chaplain to the City Commission. He moved to Albuquerque in November, 1998 and resided at Karrington of Albuquerque from January, 1999. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and James Garland of Albuquerque; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Chapel of Topeka Presbyterian Manor, Topeka, KS. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
