Obituary for Torres

Adelina"Lena" C. Torres, 88, a resident of Albuquerque for 80 years, passed away Saturday, October 16, 1999. Lena was preceded in passing by her loving and devoted husband, Pete S. Torres; her youngest daughter, Gloria"Corky" Torres and her first grandson, Michael M. Meek. She is survived by her daughter, Frances C. Meek, who was devoted to her care and comfort in her final days and her son-in-law, James E. Meek, who was like a son to her. Lena received great enjoyment in her grandchildren, Ronald P. Meek, Christina Meek Davis, and husband, Tom, and Andrew F. Meek. She was a devoted"Nana" to her great-grandchildren, Sara E. Davis, Lisa M. Davis, and Lindsey C. Meek. Lena was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church for over 65 years. She had a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary and the rosary."Nana, thank you for your constant devotion and good example to your family, They don't make 'em like you anymore-We will always love you". Rosary will be recited on Monday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Manuel Montoya reciting. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, with Father Richard McGowan, S.J., celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery where Mrs. Torres will be laid to rest with her husband, daughter, and grandson for all eternity. Pallbearers will be Hugo Bernadette, George Jaramillo, Albert Vallejos, Louis A. Apodaca, Cy Long, and Judge Joseph Alarid. The readings will be by Dolores Vallejos. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
