Obituary for Jones

J. Paul Jones, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, October 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille O. Jones of Albuquerque; daughters, Paula Margo Jones of Albuquerque, and Yolanda Dawn Jones King and husband, Gary of Moriarty; granddaughter, Tami Traub; grandson, Jonathan Jones, both of Albuquerque; sister, Jewel Stephenson of Visalia, CA; brother, Jack Jones of Durant, OK; brother, Billy Joe Jones of Santa Ana, TX; brother, Sterling Jones of Oklahoma City, OK; and brother, Forrest Jones of Granby, MO. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Barton Jones and granddaughter, Caitlyn Briana King. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Navy for over 26 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Club and VFW. Mr. Jones was very active in the Senior Olympics throughout New Mexico and many other states where he won many awards in various track and field events. He was a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church and he was very active with the Democratic Party in Albuquerque for a number of years. Services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE, with Rev. Dr. C.A. Kennedy and Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Delleney, Vernlan Hall, Lloyd Jones, Dr. Gary King, Ben Chavez, Jim Lohkamp, and Honorary Pallbearer Gov. Bruce King, and the Adult Men's Bible Class. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, (MDA-ALS) 6733 Academy Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE in charge of arrangements.
