Obituary for Myers

Mrs. Rhonda Lee Poulson Myers, 49, of Gastonia, died Tuesday, October 12, 1999, at Vencor Hospital, Greensboro. A native of Albuquerque, Mrs. Myers was the daughter of the late Alfred Ray Poulson and sister of the late Judy Dianne Sovereign. Mrs. Myers was a member of Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque, was a former flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, she loved to travel, and was a member of the Gaston Association of Realtors. She was also President of the Gaston County Cancer Society in 1989 and founded"Make Today Count", a cancer patient support group. As a realtor for Black & Whisnat Properties, Mrs. Myers was the recipient of numerous awards, including several Outstanding Achievement Awards for being a multi-million dollar producer. Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband, Dean Myers of the home; her mother, Judith Poulson, Albuquerque; her son and daughter-in-law, Russell Lee and Kandy Myers, Gastonia; daughters, Kristin Anne Myers, Asheville, and Laura Elizabeth Myers, Gastonia; grandchildren, Lillian Dean and Kale Myers, Gastonia; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Ray and Charlotte Poulson, Newport Beach, CA; mother-in-law, Joanna Myers, Concord; brothers-in-law, Dirk Myers and Allan Sovereign; sister-in-law, Paula Myers; nieces and nephews, Michael, Scott, and Sheri Sovereign, Denise Culp and Allison Mason; great-nieces and nephews, Miranda, Kaleb, Tommy, Jessica, Briana, and Alan Sovereign. A Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999, at Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, with Reverend H.L. Talbert officiating. Visitation will be tonight (Thursday), from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaston County Cancer Society, 220 E. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
