Obituary for Overholt

Bruce Tilgham Overholt, 51, a native of New Mexico, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1982, died very peacefully, surrounded by his family, Monday, October 11, 1999, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kelly Overholt of the family home; two daughters, Kimberly Mae Dubbs and husband, Brad and Kathleen Marie Overholt; his son, Bruce Christian Overholt, all of Albuquerque; his parents, Bruce Edward and Kathleen Mae Overholt of Roswell, NM; one sister, Cynthia Beth Ong and husband, Jessie, and son, Jarrod Edward, all of San Antonio, TX; numerous cousins, uncles and aunts. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church prior to his illness. He graduated high school and Jr. college from New Mexico Military Institute, received his Bachelor degree in Biology from NM State University, his Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, and married his wife, Kelly, both in 1975. He served in the US Army stationed in Ft. Devens, MA. He completed a five year course in Bible Study Fellowship. He was a member of the New Mexico Veterinarian Association and Albuquerque Veterinarian Association. He was a member of the Roswell Lodge #18 A.F. & A.M., Valley Council #4, Columbia Chapter #7, and Rio Hondo Commandery #6. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE. Burial services will be held Friday, 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Rev. Myron White officiating. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., October 16, 1999, at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Myron White officiating, assisted by Dr. Paul Debenport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 201 Eubank Blvd. NE 87123, the Humane Animal Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE 87108, or the charity of your choice. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, in charge of arrangements.
