Obituary for Stefani

Louis John Stefani, 81, a resident of Corrales for the past 29 years, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 1999. Louis was born July 10, 1918, the son of Angelo and Florinda Lupi Stefano in New York City, New York. He had been a Civil Engineer with Sandia Laboratories before he retired. Louis served in the US Army for over 24 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He received the Legion of Merit Legionnaire award in December of 1965. Louis was one of a group that was instrumental in heading up the"Keeping Corrales Rural" and he was also politically active in the community of Corrales. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in March of 1999. He is survived by his two children, Laurie Baish and husband, Richard of Cloudcroft, NM and Allan Stefani of Albuquerque; one sister, Violet Frances Chimi of Florida; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel and Juliane Baish (Juliane is the 1999 NM State Fair Queen). A Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 22, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Rev. Kenneth Hill officiating. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors being presented by the New Mexico Honor Guard. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.
