Obituary for De Vore

Gordon R. De Vore, 52, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, entered the arms of Jesus, Thursday evening, November 18, at his home in the presence of his family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sue De Vore; three daughters, Erin O'Donnell and husband, Charles, Sara De Vore and Laina De Vore, all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Patricia Ann (Pat) Howard and husband, Robert, Debbie Mitchell and husband, Mike; and one brother, Scott De Vore and wife, Rita, all of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Kurik Ray Brown and Mikelle Lynn O'Donnell; his uncle, Kenny and aunt, Mary Lou Eilar; and his parents-in-law, Jim and Maxine Harrington; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon K. De Vore and Patricia De Vore. Gordon and his family attended Hoffmantown Church. He was a member of Promise Keepers; he attended the conference in Denver, CO, and had plans to attend other conferences. He was a member of LATSE. He was a Vietnam Veteran, service in the US Navy on ships, USS Putnam and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was very supportive of the Transplant Services of New Mexico because of his own heart transplant in 1993. He was a fun loving and very courageous man; was an inspiration to all who knew him. One phrase that best described Gordon is"To Never Give Up." The family will receive friends at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, Sunday, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 22, 10:00 a.m., at Bethel Heritage Church, 79800 Holbrook NE, with Pastor Michael Mullins, and his brother, Pastor Scott De Vore officiating.
