Obituary for Strother

Ralph L. Strother, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999. Born in California, MO, he was the son of Maggie E. and Edgar Strother. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Balfour Strother of Albuquerque; son, Robin D. Strother and wife, Nancy of Farmington; daughters, Kathy L. Steele and husband, Robert of Colorado and Gail J. Cramer and husband, David; granddaughter, Tracy D. Strother; grandsons, Matthew and Marcus Cramer, all of Farmington and Robert and Enoch Steele of Colorado; and sisters, Emma Stockard of Jefferson City, MO and Virginia Koerhrmann of Alton, IL and Dale Williams of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Shane Strother. During World War II he served in the United States Army in the Aleutian Islands. He came to New Mexico to attend the University of New Mexico, receiving both a B.S. and a Masters degree. He was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until retirement in 1976. Mr. Strother was a Registered New Mexico Professional Engineer. He attended Highland Baptist Church and was an avid tennis player. Services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Highland Baptist Church, 417 Palomas Dr. SE, with Pastor Winfred Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Helm, Henry Jacobs, T.D. Flatt, James Boardman, John McKiernan and David Godown. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mr. Strother's Sunday School Class.
