Obituary for Mehlberg

Margaret E. Mehlberg, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Charles E. Mehlberg and wife, Doris of Duluth, MN and James C. Mehlberg and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Alicia and Aaron and his wife, Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Mehlberg in 1987. Margaret was born on March 20, 1908, the daughter of James and Rose Armstrong, and granddaughter of pioneer residents, Gottlieb and Margaret Hartman of Houghton, MI. She graduated from Houghton High School in 1925 and Drake University, Des Moines, IA in 1929. Margaret taught in the Goldfield, Iowa, Chassell and Portage Township Schools. She married Carl Mehlberg on December 29, 1938. Margaret had been a member of Houghton Chapter Eastern Star since 1926 and a past organist. She was a charter member of Trillium Chapter Eastern Star. Margaret was also a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority, a charter member of the Houghton High School Alumni Association, and a past president of Judson E. Ingram Post American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Portage Lake United Church, where she was involved in the Bothner Circle. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton, MI. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte Foundation, P.O.
