Obituary for Oldaker

Eunice Rowe Oldaker, 98, died Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at the Montebello Healthcare Center, where she had lived for only a short time. Mrs. Oldaker was born in Ault, CO on July 4, 1901 to James Henry and Sarah Margaret (McLeod) Rowe. At a very young age, her family moved to Greeley, CO when her father retired from ranching. Mrs. Oldaker attended and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she met her husband, Merritt W. Oldaker. They were married in her parent's home on January 14, 1926 in Greeley, CO. Mrs. Oldaker came to Albuquerque where her husband established a law practice. She worked as a substitute teacher in junior high schools for a short time, then stayed in the home caring for her three children and her husband. Mrs. Oldaker was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque. Mrs. Oldaker was also a 60-year member and past president of Chapter S, P.E.O., Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Oldaker Dickinson of Estes Park, CO; daughters-in-law, Buena Rassmusen Oldaker of Albuquerque and Charlotte Ross Oldaker of Santa Rosa, CA; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt W.; her sons, Merritt R. and William H.; son-in-law, Milan A. Dickinson; granddaughter, Debra Dickinson; one brother; and her parents. Private family graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. Carl Soderberg officiating. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
