William H. Burchett was born July 17, 1907 to William and Mary Burchett in Ringgold County, Iowa into a family of eight, six who preceded him in passing. He graduated from high school in 1926 in Kellerton, Iowa, and united in marriage to Neola E. Foster on April 28, 1927. To this union was born two children, a son, Foster H. Burchett, who preceded him in death, and a daughter, Goldie Lee Wilkerson. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter and son-in-law, Goldie and Ronald Wilkerson; one remaining sister, Lavon Thomas of Mt. Ayre, IA; and a sister-in-law, Maude Burchett of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by grandchildren and their families, Donald and Laurel Wilkerson of Bosque Farms, Mark and Vickie Wilkerson of Rio Rancho, Sherry Wilkerson of Albuquerque, Howard and Twila Burchett of Phoenix, AZ, Greg Burchett of St. Johns, AZ, Sonya Necastro and Debbie Burchett of Phoenix, AZ; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard became a member of the Church of Christ about 1950 and was a faithful member for almost 50 years. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, honesty, hard work, and Christian example. Whatever he pursued, he did with dedication and integrity. Howard passed from this life at the age of 92 years and four months on November 11, 1999 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Goldie L. and Ronald D. Wilkerson. The viewing will be held at Sandia Funeral Care on Saturday, November 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The service will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2:30 p.m., at Sandia Funeral Care with John Phillis of Northeast Albuquerque Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers will be Don, Mark and Shane Wilkerson, Howard and Greg Burchett and Jason Nichols. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Beaty, Ray King, Cliff Walkup, Ancle Lee Wishard and John Tribble. Interment will be at Memory Lane Park in Roswell, NM on Monday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by D.G. Wilkerson of Duncan, AZ and Elton Dilbeck of Roswell, NM.
