Obituary for Oglesby

William L. Oglesby, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maxine Doty Oglesby of Albuquerque; daughters, Betty Lear and husband, Justin of San Diego, CA, Peggy Fachan and husband, Paul, Janet Dickens and husband, Randolph and Pattye Younts and husband, Bill, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jennifer and Robyn Lear, Heath and Nick Dickens, and Lucas Younts; nieces, Mable Gilbert and Bette Henslee, both of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his son, William Leahman Oglesby, Jr. and his sisters, Anne Pike and Ruth Branson. Mr. Oglesby retired from the U.S.A.F. at Kirtland Air Force Base after 30 years of service. He was also retired from First National Bank as Assistant Vice-President after 15 years. Mr. Oglesby loved to golf and during his lifetime he had made 4 holes-in-one. Mr. Oglesby also loved to garden and his largest tomato was 17 1/2 inches in circumference. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his garden with family and neighbors. Memorial services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, with Rev. Charles E. Price officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
