Obituary for Chavez

Celia Barreras Chavez, 70, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 5, 1999. Mrs. Chavez was a former longtime resident of Los Alamos, where she and her husband resided for 30 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1997. Celia was born on August 20, 1928 in Gallup, New Mexico. She and her husband raised five children before she went to work for the Los Alamos School District for 13 years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Andy Chavez of Albuquerque, their four sons, Jake R. Chavez and wife, Pat of Albuquerque, Joseph M. Chavez and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque, Patrick J. Chavez of Los Alamos, Robert D. Chavez and wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque, and one daughter, Florence M. Mesch and husband, Bob of Albuquerque. Mrs. Chavez is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Lisa, Rachel, Kelsey, Shane, Davisa, Joe Jr., Rodney, Jennifer, Patrick Jr., Olivia, Dennis, Matthew, Robby, Justin, and Ashley. She is also survived by her brother, Mark Barreras and wife, Beth of Santa Fe; her two sisters-in-law, Juanita Mastronardi of Albuquerque and Dorothy Chavez of San Francisco, CA. She will be dearly missed by her loving family. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening, March 7 at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. (823-9400), burial mass will be held at Church of the Risen Savior on Monday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m. Burial arrangements/mass are pending through French Mortuary, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. (821-1571).
