Obituary for Gomez

Juanita S. Gomez, 88, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, February 28. Born February 8, 1911, in Lincoln, New Mexico, she had mainly resided in Albuquerque since 1990. She was the daughter of Ladislado and Filomena Salas, a pioneer couple in the Lincoln Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Gomez; and a daughter, Virginia Alcala. She is survived by a brother, D.R. Salas of Ruidoso, NM; her children, Dora Sandoval and husband, Floyd, Joe Gomez and wife, Grace, Ernest Gomez and Maxine, Gloria Aldaz, Elmo Gomez and wife, Loretta, Jerry Gomez and Monica, Bernadette and husband, Larry; and 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and residents of the Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 3, 11:00 a.m., at San Juan Catholic Church in her beloved Lincoln. Pallbearers will be Daniel R. Gomez, Jason Gomez, Joe Jr. Gomez, Gary Sandoval, Don E. Gomez, and Ervin Aldaz. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Gomez, Adam Aldaz, Larry Flynn, David Gomez, Philip Gomez and William Padilla. Arrangements will be handled by La Grone Funeral Home, Ruidoso, NM.
