Obituary for Herry

Cale C. Herry, Major (Ret), USAF, 69, an Albuquerque resident since 1957, died Friday, February 26, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann Herry of the family home; daughter, Deborah Lynn Chavez and husband, Tom, of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Cynthia and Carla Chavez, both of Albuquerque; brother, Don F. Herry of Lyndonville, NY; and several nieces and nephews in New York. He served in the USAF as a pilot and completed 100 combat missions in Korea flying F-84 and F-86 aircraft. During the Vietnam conflict, he flew 146 missions in the RB57 aircraft. After 20 years service, Mr. Herry retired from the Air Force at the rank of Major in 1969 at Kirtland AFB. Major Herry earned his masters degree in Public Administration at the University of New Mexico. He worked for the State of New Mexico Water Quality Department in Santa Fe and was later Director of Public Utilities for the State of Alaska in Anchorage. After returning to New Mexico, he enjoyed a retirement of hunting and fishing in the company of many of his fellow military retirees in Central New Mexico. His hobbies included travel, photography and his lifelong love of flying. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Chaplain Colonel Lemuel Boyles, USAF (Ret), officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Kirtland AFB Honor Guard.
