1914-1999 Gwynn E. Davis, 84, a resident of Belen, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 1999 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Davis retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1963, where he had worked as a conductor. Many will remember Mr. Davis for the joy he brought to the residents of the county as he delivered flowers for the shop, he along with his wife, owned since 1947, Davis Floral. Mr. Davis was raised to Master Mason on April 11, 1938 in Hamlin Lodge, No. 958, A.F. & A.M. and was active in Bethlehem Lodge, No. 56. He was also a 50 year member of Jasmine Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis; two sons, Charles Davis and his wife, Shirley of Lincoln, NE and Dale Davis of Belen; two sisters, Rowena Grayson and Gladis Norwood, both of Kerrville, TX; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, also at Riverside Chapel, with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Marge McGee, Betty McGee, Georgia McKown, Vanessa Higgs, Alice Torres, and Agnes Smith. Private interment will take place at a later date.
