Obituary for Wilson

Ralph S. Wilson, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Sunday, August 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beth Wilson of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda M. Hutchins of Albuquerque; sons, James R. Wilson of Melrose, MA and Kenneth R. Wilson and wife, Jeanne of Maple Valley, WA; granddaughter, Darcianne Hutchins of Colorado Springs, CO; grandsons, Darren James Hutchins of Albuquerque and Paul Wilson of Maple Valley, WA; and sister, Betty Allen of Tulare, CA. Mr. Wilson graduated from Colorado State University at Ft. Collins, CO. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Wright Aeronautical Corp. in Patterson, NJ. In 1942, he was called to active duty. Mr. Wilson served in Australia before transferring to the Army Air Corps and serving in New Guinea. In 1945, he returned to the U.S. as a Captain. The Wilsons were married on May 7, 1945 in Ft. Collins, CO. Captain Wilson was discharged at Wright's Field in Dayton, OH in 1946. He worked for Lycoming Aviation Corp. in Williamsport, PA, and also returned to Wright Aeronautical Corp. prior to starting work at Sandia National Lab in 1950. Mr. Wilson retired from Sandia National Lab in 1982. He was a member of A.S.M.E. and was a registered professional engineer in New Mexico and California. He was a member of S.A.E. Fraternity; the Air Force Association; and the Albuquerque Rotary Club. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Rd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Rd.
