Demesia Gonzales, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, was called home to be with the Lord, while surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, August 21, 1999. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Magdalena, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque; she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Josefita Vigil; her husband, Leandro Gonzales in 1995. She is survived by five sons, John L. Vigil and wife, Della of Golden, NM, Vito Gonzales and wife, Gertrude, Eddie Gonzales, Tony Vigil and wife, Gloria, Jose"Herman" Gonzales and wife, Cathy, all of Albuquerque; two daughters, Dora Lopez and husband, Emilio of Albuquerque, Manuelita Maestas and husband, Arthur of Cedar Crest, NM; 37 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Rose Herrera of Bell Gardens, CA, Lita Herrera of Las Cruces, NM, Lorraine Churchman and husband, Ray of Pensacola, FL; special niece, Lizzie Chavez; a special nephew, Joe F. Martinez; and numerous relatives. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. James Moore as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tony Gonzales, Tony Vigil, Tracy Gonzales, Jose Maestas Jr., John Vigil Jr., and Hank Jaramillo.
