Obituary for Mcknight

E.B. (Ed) McKnight, of Helena MT, passed away Friday, November 26 at Fort Harrison VA Center after a long battle with cancer. Ed was born January 4th, 1929 in Winnsboro, LA to Estol Bridges and Minnie O. McKnight. Ed joined the Air Force in 1945 and served as a Flight Engineer throughout his career, retiring from active duty in 1966. During that time, he served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He then served an additional two years in the A.F. Reserves from 1966-68. From 1968 to present, Ed had lived in Albuquerque and Chama, New Mexico, where he owned and operated an excavating and underground utilities company, and moved to Helena, MT in 1997. During his time in Chama, Ed served as Commander of the local American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife, Patricia McKnight of Helena, MT and her step-children; his former wife, Jo Ann Martinez of Chama; one son, C. Wayne McKnight of Tijeras, NM; daughter, Dee Ann Hessler of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Alamae Hattaway, Fae Perry, and Evelyn Maes, all of Monroe, LA; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy McKnight; and sister, Erlene Wollerson. Military services are pending arrangement and will be attended by immediate family. Ed was a man of strong character and fast friendships who was always there for his friends. We love you and will deeply miss you!
