Obituary for Crespin

David J. Crespin, age 90, born on May 12, 1909, passed away September 12, 1999. Born in Santa Rosa, NM to Frank and Encarnacion Crespin. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfredo Crespin; four brothers, Bodvel, Frank, George, and Bonez; three sisters, Teodorita, Martha and Cleo. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Emilia Crespin; three daughters, Viola Luna and husband, Mariano, Fabiola Lucero and husband, Abrello, Susan Crespin-Smith and husband, Malcolm, all of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bennie Milre and Frank Crespin; three sisters, Pauline Lyons, Mary Padilla and Anna Franco; numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives. David was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. He worked for the Harvey houses in Vaughn and Winslow, Arizona in the 1930s. He tended bar for Charlie Panebaulf, whom he greatly admired and respected. In the 1940s he served as a member of the School Board, and as a municiple judge for Vaughn and the surrounding areas. David was an avid walker and people lover, walking up to five miles a day, stopping along the way to talk to friends and neighbors. He loved living in Vaughn and often said that if he could get back he would never leave again, making Vaughn his final resting place. Visitations will be held this afternoon, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. also at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Vaughn, NM, with interment to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery also in Vaughn. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, David Luna, Deana Alonzo, Daniel Abeyta, Lisa Romo, Charles Luna and Christine Wakely. Services entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St. NW, Norbert R. Baldonado Jr. F.S.I.
