Obituary for Pena

Jose R. (Joe) Pena, 54, a resident of Belen, passed away on Wednesday, September 08, 1999. Jose retired from the National Guard after 21 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Hosanna Assembly of God Church in Los Lunas. He retired from the City of Belen, where he worked as Public Works Director and City Manager. His greatest joy was serving his savior the Lord Jesus Christ, and being with family. Throughout his 15 years of illness with heart disease, he never lost sight of his faith and courage. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Pena in 1974; his mother, Soledad Pena in 1989; and one brother, Porforio in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carlita B. Pena of the family home in Belen; three sons, Kenneth Pena and his wife, Victoria of Los Lunas, Ronald Pena and his wife, Pam of Phoenix, AZ, Dwayne Pena and his wife, Lori of Belen; and one daughter, Francine Mast and her husband, Dustin Mast; seven grandchildren, Kameo, Korriah, Tesa, Jason, K.J., Cheyanne and Kira; one sister, Silvia Dolecky and her husband, Tony of New Jersey; six brothers, Ignacio and his wife, Nina of Sacramento, CA, Telesfor of Belen, Leandro and his wife, Irene of Belen, Jose N. and his wife, Abigail of Belen, Albert and his wife, Linda of Belen, and Phillip of Belen. There will be visitation on Friday, September 19, 1999, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 1999 at the First Assembly of God Church in Belen. Interment will follow in Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Pallbearers will be Andy Ortega, Albert Pena, Carlo Pena, Joe Maestas, Pat Romero, Christino Saiz. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main, Belen.
