Obituary for Cleland

Charles"Bill" Cleland, 77, born August 2, 1922 in Raton, NM, died Monday, September 6, 1999, at his Albuquerque home in Bear Canyon Estates. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Cleland; and brothers, Everett Cleland and James Cleland. Mr. Cleland is survived by his children, Michael J. Cleland and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque, Deborah Thebeau and husband, Thomas of Tehachapi, CA, Elizabeth Cleland of Albuquerque and Richard Harris and wife, Linda of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Sara Thebeau and Tess Thebeau of Tehachapi, CA, and Jennifer Leon of Bellingham, WA; grandsons, Brendan Thebeau of Tehachapi, CA, Alex Cleland of Albuquerque, Michael Leon and wife, Deborah of Las Cruces and David Leon of Roswell; great-grandson, Arel Leon of Las Cruces; sisters, Thelma Montgomery of Nogales, AZ, Ruth Ann Blocker of Portland, OR, Alice Hofheins of Albuquerque and Mary Lou Alison of Albuquerque; and sister-in-law, Nellie Cleland of Alamogordo. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church and was also a very active member of the Independence Order of the Odd Fellows for over 50 years. Mr. Cleland worked for the Air National Guard for many years. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
