Obituary for Baca

Marie A. Baca, 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 1999. Marie was born the daughter of Palcido and Esther Ruiz Anbriz in Capulin, Mexico on March 27, 1915. Marie graduated from UMN and had been a gradeschool teacher. She was also an underwriter for an insurance company. She was an accomplished china painter for many years. Her work had been shown at the State Fair and won many ribbons. She taught china painting up until a year ago, having as many as 15 students in a class. Marie was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Rio Rancho Country Club. She also hosted bridge parties in her home in Rio Rancho. Marie was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Baca Sr.; sister, Carmerina Brown; and granddaughter, Camie Ann Baca. Marie is survived by her son, Art Baca and wife, Ginger of Berwyn Heights, MD; one sister, Eudocia Burk of Ruidoso, NM; and one grandchild, Karen Baca of Palmdale, CA. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 9, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 10, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, with the Rev. Msgr. Douglas Raun as the Celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park.
