Obituary for Crouch

Erlene Crouch, 83, passed away August 6, 1999. She was a resident of Rio Rancho for the past three years, moving here from Chicago, IL. Erlene was born on October 26, 1915 in Texas to Lucius and Erma Walker Thorne. Before retirement, Erlene was employed by the Harvey School District in Illinois as a teacher. Her passion was children, music, and traveling. She was a very devoted daughter and sister. She was an alumni of Delta Sigma Theta. Erlene was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Crouch after 44 years of marriage. She is survived by her mother, Erma Thorne of Rio Rancho; two brothers, Lawrence L. Thorne and wife, Katherine of Detroit, Emmett M. Thorne Sr. and his wife, Helga; and one sister, Agnes M. Robinson, both of Rio Rancho; niece, Larisa Lowe of Matteson, IL; nephews, Maurice Thorne of Chicago, Lawrence L. Thorne Jr. of Texas, and Steven C. Thorne of Riverside, CA; several grandnieces and grandnephews; a Godchild, Harriet Eiland of Chicago; and many special friends. Visitation will be held today, 11:00 a.m., at the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home with Funeral services to be held at 12:00 noon, also in the chapel, with Reverend Charlie Walker officiating. Burial will take place in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the American Heart Association.
