Obituary for Apodaca

Telesfor Apodaca, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, August 7, 1999. He was born on April 14, 1915 in Valencia, NM to Dometilio and Josefina Apodaca; he served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Military Police Officer; Telesfor worked as a custodian for many years at Sandia Base and the Albuquerque Public Libraries; he was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church, he had a great love for Our Virgin de Guadalupe; he enjoyed all animals, especially his horses, he also liked gardening and dancing. Telesfor was a wonderful father, grandfather, and Godfather. He will be missed deeply by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fedelina Olguin Apodaca; his parents; brothers, Ramon and Joe Apodaca; sisters, Maria Chavez, Emma Perea, Faustina Griego and Rosa Griego. He is survived by his loving daughter, Maria Rafaelita Valdez and husband, Brigido of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Annette Hernandez and husband, Hector"Jorge"; two grandsons, Jesus and Leonel Valdez; two great-granddaughters, April M. and Angel M. Apodaca, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are one sister, Edwina Gomez of Albuquerque; and a host of friends. Visitations will be held today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, 5525 Fortuna Rd. NW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jesus J. Valdez, Leonel Valdez, Brigido Valdez, Jozette Ortiz, Juan de La Cruz and Regelio Escovedo. Military Honors will be accorded by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III. Funeral services are in the care and direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW, 243-5222.
