Obituary for Holmes

Jan and Shary Holmes, residents of Albuquerque since 1943, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999. They are survived by their sons, Steve Holmes and wife, Betsy S. Nichols of Tijeras, Sam Holmes and wife, Paula of Albuquerque, and Shane Holmes of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Celina Holmes and husband, Karl of Albuquerque, Melissa Holmes and Kelsey Holmes, both of Denver, CO; grandson, Casey Holmes; great-granddaughter, Rayana Holmes of Albuquerque; Mrs. Holmes is survived by her father, Doyle Hicks of Albuquerque; mother, Truby Metcalf of Denver, CO; brother, John Hicks of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Terry Zappa and husband, Tony of Chicago, IL, Carol Glasby and husband, Jim of Denver, CO, and Kay Metcalf of Dallas, TX; Mr. Holmes is survived by his brother, Norris Dean Holmes; sisters, Derlene Allen and husband, Joseph of Akron, OH, and Kay and Fanny Mae Taylor and husband, Jay, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were members of American Legion Post #13. Mr. Holmes served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. He had a 25 year career at Sandia National Labs. Mrs. Holmes was a loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed handicrafts and sewing. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes never met anyone they didn't like. Memorial services will be held Monday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Bishop Paul Sowards officiating.
