Obituary for Gerken

Rosanne Holler Gerken, age 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died June 22, 1999. She is survived by her brothers, Edward and Richard Holler; a niece, Jeanette Ross of Los Lunas; and other family members. A graduate of Fordham University, Mrs. Gerken taught school and served in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge on December 13, 1945. She traveled extensively with her husband, Lt. Col. Fred Gerken, during his long military career in the U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Gerken preceded her in death in 1984. An active Catholic, Mrs. Gerken supported the work of several religious communities serving the poor and homeless. Friends are invited to attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE, on Thursday, July 1st, with a coffee reception to immediately follow.
