R.E. Self, 80, a longtime rancher and resident of Elida, NM, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dollie Self; daughters, Ann of Beaverton, OR, Nancy of Albuquerque; son, Alan of Tijeras; a sister, Adelaide Gregory of Portales; eight grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. He served with the 804 Tank Destroyer Battalion during WWII. Services were Saturday, April 24 in the Elida Methodist Church with interment in the Elida Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elida Volunteer Fire Department.
