Mary Belle Locust Pettit, age 79, of Albuquerque, died on Saturday, April 24, 1999. She was born in Braggs, OK and spent over 40 years in Arizona and New Mexico as an educator at various reservations. She was a member of St. Francis Cathedral Parish. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Susan Gano and husband, Leroy of Texas, Carlisle Pettit of Alaska, David Pettit and wife, Beverly of Alaska, and Phyllis Nassi and husband, Walter of Salt Lake City, UT; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Luanna Jehne of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law, Ton Pettit of Phoenix, AZ; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 27, 10:00 a.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St. Francis Cathedral. Entombment will follow at Rosario Cemetery.
