Celina A. Ortiz, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Saturday, April 24, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Velma L'Esperance of Albuquerque; sons, Alfonso Ortiz, Jr. and wife, Jeannette of Albuquerque and Nelson Ortiz and wife, Ernestine of Albuquerque; brothers, Jesse Garcia and wife, Rosana of Pinnole, CA, Lucio Garcia of Oakland, CA and Ofene Garcia and wife, Carlotta of Las Vegas, NM; sisters, Grace Duran and husband, Eloy, Gertrude Ortega, Predy Aragon and husband, Guadalupe, all of Albuquerque, and Dorothy L. 'Esperance of Las Vegas, NM; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Ortiz, Sr. in 1993. Celina was born April 8, 1912 in Chacon, NM. She was a graduate of Allison-James High School in Santa Fe in 1934 and enjoyed dancing, ceramics and macrame. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior with Fr. Paul Baca, celebrant, Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Andrew Ortiz, Leon Jaramillo, III, Manuel L'Esperance and Timoteo L'Esperance. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
