Obituary for Townsend

Charles (Dave) Townsend, 80, a longtime resident of New Mexico and now residing in Rio Communities since 1985, passed away on June 15, 1999. Charles was born in 1918 in Roswell, NM. He worked for the construction industry as an electrician and manager. Charles was honored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a 50 year member on August 9, 1997. Since his retirement he was active in the Airstream Wally Byam Caravan Club International and served as President of the New Mexico Chapter in 1990. He was also a member of the Tierra Del Sol Country Club, where he enjoyed golf and social activities. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Goodlive-Townsend of 12 years; his son, John and his wife, Martha of Sedona, AZ; his daughter, Mary Jane Guerra of Mt. Shasta, CA; three grandchildren, Shelly Bilyeu, Dave Townsend, and Airanna Guerra. A memorial service will be held on Friday, 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Belen with Rev. Jay Armstrong officiating. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
