Obituary for Ball

George Price Ball passed away at his home in Albuquerque June 8, 1999 after a long illness. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on July 29, 1909. As a child he resided in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York, and Florida, and as an adult in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Louisiana, and New Mexico. He moved to Albuquerque in 1947, and went into business as Ball Metal Products. He will be remembered as"Pappy Ball" at the Duke City Race Way where he raced his last race at age 79. It was a third generation race including his son Steve and Steve's son, Tom. He is survived by his sons, Stephen T. Ball and wife, Marian of Albuquerque, Anthony J. Ball and wife, Sheila of West Jordan, Utah; and daughter, Sandra Ball Hall and husband, John of Albuquerque. He had 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, William Ball of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 1999 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8130 Sage Rd. SW.
