Obituary for Hunt

Matthew Scott Nelson Hunt, age 17, born June 12, 1981 in Albuquerque, died tragically on Saturday, May 29, 1999. He attended John Baker Elementary School, Hoover and Emanuel Lutheran Middle Schools and Eldorado High School, graduating on May 20, 1999. Matthew was going to be a freshman at the University of New Mexico in the fall. He had been active in AYSO and Duke City Soccer, Roadrunner Little League USTA Junior Tennis and Eldorado Varsity Tennis. Since a serious injury in January 1999, Matthew had taken up wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis. Matthew loved life, his family and friends. He was laid-back, outgoing, always happy and had an unbelievable fighting spirit which manifested itself over the first half of this year, when he endured numerous operations and constant pain, yet still smiled and talked of helping other paraplegics in the future."MATT MATT," as he was affectionately known, will always be in the thoughts, prayers and memories of his parents, Mary and Ken Hunt; sisters, Heather and Julie; grandparents, Al and Jeanne Hunt; several dozen uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews; and countless friends and acquaintances whose lives he has touched. Kisses and loves, loves and kisses. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 3, 1999, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE (corner of Phoenix and Arizona), with Rev. Eric C.B. Nelson and Rev. S. Kay Wellington officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew Hunt Memorial Fund, c/o Craig Hospital Foundation, 3425 South Clarkson Street, Englewood, CO, 80110.
