Obituary for Crowley

Cornelius John (A.K.A."Neal" or"C.J.") Crowley passed away in Tampa, Florida at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 28, 1999, at the age of 77. Mr. Crowley was born in New York City on May 7, 1921. He was retired from Federal Service with the General Services Administration with which he held the position of Buildings Manager in Albuquerque and previously in Santa Fe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Panama from 1939 to 1942. He served as a Platoon Sergeant in the Second World War with the 271st Infantry Regiment attached to the 69th U.S. Infantry Division during which time he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat and the Bronze Star for personal valor. He was honorably discharged in 1947 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Mr. Crowley was preceded in death by both parents; one sister; two brothers; and numerous cousins. Mr. Crowley is survived by one brother; two sisters; three sons; one daughter; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and eight nephews and nieces. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Francis Cathedral, Santa Fe, at 10:00 a.m., on March 26, 1999, with The Reverend Father Manuel Viera, OFM, Celebrant. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe. Flowers are allowed by the National Cemetery. Information can be obtained at (409) 982-6385.
