Obituary for Minorsky

Doris Matheson Minorsky, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for ten years, passed away Sunday, March 14, 1999 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Vladimir; sons, Nicholas Minorsky and wife, Linda and Peter Minorsky; daughter, Nina Hobbs and husband, David; grandchildren, Walker and Helen Hobbs and Claire and Laura Minorsky; sister, Jean Luminais and husband, Milton; and nieces, Joan Norris and Nancy Elsner. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Jean. Doris was born in Fairfield, NJ on July 18, 1920. She served in the Red Cross in Germany during WWII. Doris worked in New York City as a coordinator of foreign exchange students with the American Field Services. She enjoyed this position as it allowed her to travel and meet new people, two of the great joys in her life. After retirement, Doris moved with her husband, Vladimir to New Mexico where they lived in Santa Fe and later in Albuquerque. Doris was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family. Everyone who knew her loved her for her goodness and sense of humor. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
