Obituary for Lovato

Jose Sisto Lovato, 67, a lifelong Fort Sumner resident died Saturday, March 13, 1999 in the De Baca General Hospital following an illness. Mr. Lovato was born September 3, 1931 in Fort Sumner to the home of Pedro C. and Juanita V. Lovato. He was reared and attended school in Fort Sumner. At the age of 16 he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad. He served as Section Foreman and retired after 40 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner, a member of K of C Council 8331; and a member of Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Engineers Union. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vicente Lovato. Survivors included his wife, Lorena Lovato of Fort Sumner, four sons, Lawrence and Mickey Lovato of Roswell, Tony and Joe Lovato of Albuqueque; one daughter, Helen Madrid of Austin, TX. Also surviving are three brothers, Leandro, Guillermo and Cosme Lovato; one sister Celina Otero all of Albuquerque. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999, from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel; a second Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday from St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with Father Sipio Salas, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his co-workers from the Santa Fe Railroad. All arrangements are entrusted to Chave Funeral Home in Fort Sumner (505) 355-2311
