Obituary for Burt

Mary Frances Burt, 95, a resident of New Mexico since 1926, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999, which would have been her 75th wedding anniversary. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Eatough and husband, Mel, Katherine Tenczar, Marilyn Hokanson and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; three sons, Gaylord Burt and wife, Anna, Wasco, CA, Robert Burt and wife, Cathie, Taos, and George Burt, Denver, CO; two sisters, Ella Leeds and Helen Babcock, both of Colorado; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of San Ysidro Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Burt Sr. in 1962; and one great-grandchild in 1974. She pioneered with her husband, Gaylord, in bringing electricity to Northern, NM. She attended college in Grand Junction, CO and briefly taught school grades 1 through 8 in a one room school house before marrying her husband in 1924. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at San Ysidro Catholic Church. She will be buried by her husband in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, in charge of arrangements.
