Obituary for Loughrey

Father Bernard H. Loughrey, 82, a resident of Belen, and formerly of Ardmore, PA, passed away on Monday, June 14, 1999. He was the Pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isleta, NM, retiring recently after 14 years of dedicated service to his parishioners. He was ordained in 1942, and had served many communities in New Mexico, including Questa, Ruidoso, Isleta, and Tome. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Loughrey; one brother, Lt. John J. Loughrey, U.S.M.C., who was killed in action in Tinnian Island in 1944; and two sisters, Rose M. and Marge M. Loughrey. He is survived by two brothers, Charles H. Loughrey of Milwaukee, WI; and father, Thomas F. Loughrey, retired Priest of the Philadelphia Archdiocese, now living in West Wildwood, NJ; two nieces, Mary Eileen Loughrey and Patricia Loughrey, both of Milwaukee, WI; one nephew, John Loughrey and his wife, Cathleen of Scotch Plains, NJ; great-grandnephew, Brendan; and great-grandniece, Maura Loughrey. Father Loughrey is also survived by his housekeeper of many years, Eulalia Bryan of Belen. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isleta, followed by the Funeral Mass at 7:00 p.m. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main, Belen, NM 87002, in charge of arrangements. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 8, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at his home place in St. Dennis Catholic Cemetery in Ardmor, PA.
