Obituary for Carter

Amber Leahanne Carter, 22 years old, born in Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at her home in Grover Beach, California on Thursday, June 10, 1999 after a valiant battle against cancer. Amber touched many peoples' lives with her strength, courage and love. She was a resident of the Grover Beach, California area for ten years and graduated at the top of her class from Arroyo Grande High School. She attended the University of San Diego and Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California, where she majored in Psychology. Amber loved to dance and was a member of the Arroyo Grande High School and Gilbert Reed dance companies. She enjoyed painting in watercolors, doing latch hook, and cuddling with her kitties and her family. Amber was the beloved daughter of Tom and Janine Carter; and the big sister of Bridgett Carter. The visitation will be at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach on Tuesday, June 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The vigil service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will also be held at St. Patrick's Church on Wednesday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Fr. James Henry. The interment will be at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos, California for family members. In lieu of flowers, a memorial bench will be placed in Shell Beach, California in honor of Amber.
