Obituary for Allen

Charles Walter Allen, 81, of Mesa, Arizona, died Thursday morning, May 20, 1999, in a Mesa hospice house, following a brief illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. MaryAnn Scott-Allen of Mesa; one daughter, Jane Suzan Allyn (formerly Susan Findlay Allen Minser) of Quincy, IL; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Minser, MD, of Ft. Wayne, IN. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War II. He was Field Engineer in the Weapons Training Division at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque from 1954 to 1980. Mr. Allen served as Vice Chairman of the Governing Board of the Technical Vocational Institute in Albuquerque for a number of years. Formerly he was an Industrial Education faculty member at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He received his Master's degree in Education with honors, at the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana in 1950. Mr. Allen was born and raised in Carbondale, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Earl Allen of Carbondale; and his first wife, Maxine Findlay Allen of Albuquerque. The family is requesting donations to the American Cancer Society Research on Prostatic Cancer in lieu of flowers.
