Charles Jay Earl, age 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, died peacefully with his family by his side on May 19, 1999. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Langford Earl; daughter, Lezlee Murphy, her husband, David, and their children, Matthew, Kirsten, and Sarah; son, Charles Kevin Earl, his wife, Susan, and their son, Charles Hunter; daughter, Cydney Aranda, her husband, John, and their children, Andrew and William. He is also survived by brothers, Ken and Gary Earl; and sisters, Jean Keddington and LaRae Johnson. Jay was born in Ogden, Utah on June 25, 1923. He spent the early years of his life in Utah. In 1967, he moved his family to Albuquerque, working as an engineer for Ampex until his retirement. His love of the outdoors included fishing trips to Alaska, camping trips with his friends, and gardening. The last years of his life were spent doing for his family. He was a giving, loving man and a void will be left in the lives of all he touched. Jay will never be forgotten. Services will be held on Monday, May 24, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4109 Eubank NE. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and doctors in the Kaseman Hospice Unit. Their kindness and caring allowed us to spend peaceful time with our husband and father at the end of his life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to NM Autism Program, 2300 Menaul Blvd. NE, Alb., NM 87107 or to Presbyterian Hospice Homecare, c/o Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 26666, Alb., NM 87125-6666.
