CHARLES FRANKLYN LYNETTE Thursday, June 01, 1916 - Saturday, 6:00 A.M., March 20, 1999Fr. Charles Franklyn Lynette, S.J., died at 6:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, at Ignatius residence in New Orleans. He was 82, a Jesuit for 65 years and a priest for 52 years. He received an A.B. in Latin and Math from Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL, an S.T.L. in Theology from St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO, and a Doctorate in Theology from the Angelicum in Rome. He taught at Jesuit High Schools in New Orleans, Shreveport, and Dallas. He was ordained at Holy Name Church by Archibishop J.F. Rummel. He taught philosophy at Loyola, N.O. and Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL, where he was also Dean of Students and Director of Development and of Alumni Relations. He was also a Professor of theology from 1970-78 at City College, Loyola, New Orleans and Assistant Dean for Continuing Education. For 14 years he was at the Jesuit Church in downtown Albuquerque. He then returned to Loyola to take care of the Jesuit community. He transferred to Ignatius Residence in 1998. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Eugene Bryan) Lynette and his two brothers are deceased. He is survived by a nephew, Mr. William Lynette of Metairie. Donations may be made to the Jesuit Development Office, 500 South Jefferson Davis Parkway, N.O., LA 70119. Visitation was on Sunday, March 21, from 7:00 p.m., with the Mass of Christian burial at 7:30 p.m., followed by visitation in the chapel at Thomas Hall until 9:00 p.m., on the campus of Loyola University. Burial was 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 22, at the Jesuit Cemetery at Spring Hill College, 4000 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36608. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 27, 1999, 12:10 p.m., here in downtown Albuquerque, at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Avenue NW.
