Obituary for Chavez

Soloman P. Chavez, 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 75 years, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Chavez; children, Solomon Chavez III and wife, Eve of Colorado Springs, CO, Charlene Gonzales and husband, Robert of Taos, Gina Chavez, Steve Chavez and wife, Gina, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Monica and husband, Kirk, Greg, Marcos, Joseph, Miguel and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Rheana and Ryne; sisters, Olivia Martin, Rachel Chavez and Priscilla Griego and husband, Bill of California; sisters-in-law, Tillie Pacheco and Gertrude Costales; brother-in-law, Prospero Jaramillo; and many loving nieces and nephews. Solomon retired in 1983 after serving as President of Stryco Sales, Inc. He had previously worked for ICX, NM Health Department and Bond and Wiest. Mr. Chavez was a life member of Masonic Temple Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Temple; a former member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church; and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, belonged to the Senior Golf Association for several years, and played golf in the Senior Olympics. Memorial services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver SE, with Rev. Jim Massey officiating.
