Elmer C. Jones, 85, of Leawood, Kansas, formerly a 23 year resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico passed away Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, MO. Private Graveside Services will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery. No visitation. The family suggests contributions to the Senior's Clinic of St. Joseph's Health Center, 1000 Carondelet Drive, Kansas City, MO 64114. Mr. Jones was born September 30, 1913 in Kansas City, MO and had lived in this area most of his life. He retired from Armco Steel as a foreman after 40 years of service in 1975 when he moved to Rio Rancho. This past year he returned to Leawood, Kansas to reside at Sterling House. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Jones in 1992. Survivors include a son, Donald A. Jones, Sr. of Bates City, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty K. and Jim Lusby of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Lester E. Jones of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Janet N. Whittemore, Donald A. Jones, Jr., Heather D. Jones, Pam Vailancourt and Scott Vailancourt; and one great-granddaughter.
