Obituary for Martinez

Nidel G. Martinez, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Thursday, April 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Judith Martinez of the family home; sons, Perry N. Martinez, Rocky C. Martinez, and Garry A. Martinez, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Larissa A. Martinez and Desiree R. Martinez; brother, Domingo P. Martinez and wife, Helen of Denver, CO; and sisters, Sadie Rizo and husband, Lupe and Caroline M. Gutierrez, all of La Junta, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister. Mr. Martinez was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Albuquerque Fire Department for 23 1/2 years, retiring as a Lt. Paramedic. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church, 4080 St. Joseph Pl. NW, with Father Frank Prieto, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronald Paiz, Rudy Sanchez, Jeff Elks, John Serino, Lawrence Chavez and Domingo P. Martinez. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
